Hi my name is Rachel H Maeng (yes my middle name is H haha), I'm years old, currently based in Austin, TX. I recently graduated from UT Austin with a degree in history. I'm currently at Podqi as a Growth Engineer.

I started college planning for med school and spent three years as a biology major before realizing I cared more about understanding how systems work than practicing medicine. History became the right home for that curiosity—digging into archives to understand why institutions function the way they do.

Currently, I'm building a wellness app that treats the menstrual cycle as an integrated system for nutrition, movement, and mood. Most health tech overlooks this entirely. The research gap is significant—women weren't routinely included in clinical trials until the 1990s—and the product gap is even larger. I'm working to address both.

I'm Korean-American and grew up navigating between languages and cultures—an experience that shaped how I approach complex systems more than I initially realized.

Outside of work, I cook often, play the flute, and find myself drawn to understanding how things work—whether institutions, biological systems, or software.

This site is where I collect what I'm thinking about, reading, and building.
